Privacy, in plain English
This should take about a minute to read. If anything here is unclear, that is our fault and we would like to know.
The short version. We collect nothing at all from children. The only personal information this site ever holds is a grown-up’s email address, and only if they type it in on one page and then confirm it. There are no adverts, no trackers and no third-party scripts anywhere.
What we collect from children
Nothing. There is no account, no login, no profile, no comment box, no upload, no quiz that saves anything, and no way for a child to type something that reaches us. The stories, the animals, the sounds and the screensavers all work without anyone identifying themselves.
What we collect from grown-ups
One thing: an email address, and only if you enter it on the email service page. We do not ask for your name, your child’s name, your child’s age, your address or anything else, because we do not need any of it to send you an email.
That page sits behind a grown-up gate for exactly this reason. Nothing is added to any list until you click the link in a confirmation email, so an address typed in by mistake goes nowhere.
What we do with it
We send you the things you ticked — new printed books, or new audio e-books, or both. A few times a year. We do not sell it, share it, rent it, or pass it to anyone else for their own use.
Tracking, adverts and cookies
There is no analytics on this site. No advertising. No pixels, beacons, fingerprinting or profiling. No third-party scripts of any kind. No cookies are set for tracking.
Two small things are stored in your own browser and never sent anywhere: where you got to in the story, so we can offer to carry on tomorrow, and whether you have dismissed the note about small screens. You can clear both by clearing your browser data, and nothing breaks if you do.
Leaving the site
The gift shop is a separate service, run separately, with its own privacy notice. Links that leave Bearmindful are marked and open in a new tab.
Getting off the list, or deleted
Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. It works straight away and does not ask you why. If you would rather we deleted your address entirely, email hello@bearmindful.example and we will do it and confirm that we have.
Where this sits legally
This site is designed against the UK Information Commissioner’s Age appropriate design code (the Children’s Code) and the US Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act. In practice both come down to the same thing here: high privacy by default, no data collected from children, no manipulative design, no profiling, and clear language about what happens.
The lawful basis for sending you emails is your consent, given separately for each thing you ticked, and withdrawable at any time.

Prototype
This is a demonstration site. There is no back end, no mailing list and no database. The email page validates and shows a success state, and the address never leaves the browser.
