The six-month changeover
The brief asks for one story online at a time, replaced every six months, with refreshes that are mainly images and video. Press the switch and watch what actually has to change.

change between seasons.
What is online
Only one is ever live: true. The other is archived, not
deleted — its files stay where they are and can be brought back.
What the changeover actually is
And that is the whole job
Six new illustrations, two new films, one new audio file, and one edited content file. No page is rebuilt, no template is touched, no component is rewritten, and nothing about the design system moves.
Why it is built this way
Nothing narrative is in the markup
Titles, blurbs, captions, frame lists, media paths, transcripts and the accent colour all live in one content file. The pages are slots.
The media slots never move
Two video slots and one audio slot, in fixed positions, with the runtimes the brief specifies. New files drop into the same three places.
One story live, by design
The live story is whichever one is flagged. There is no way to accidentally have two up at once, because the site reads the flag rather than a list.
The rest of the site is unaffected
The animals, the sounds, the screensavers, the illustrator page and the email service do not change at a changeover. They are stable furniture.
